Wagner investing in new production facility in the Gewerbepark Nonnweiler
The foundation stone for the new production facility in the Gewerbepark Nonnweiler "is a milestone in the history of pizza Wagner," said Werner Bauer, chairman of Nestlé Germany. Wagner Frozen Foods Ltd. will invest 45 million euros in the new plant, which is formed directly next to the refrigerated warehouse. Around 70 million pizzas per year will be made in this new production line, which will increase the total production of Wagner Pizza to about 350 million frozen products annually.
Although the largest growth markets abroad, the management decided yet for the site in the Gewerbepark Nonnweiler. Reserve space for further expansion and the perfect infrastructure were major reasons for this choice of location. The Gewerbepark Nonnweiler is directly connected to the highway.
Mayor Franz Josef Barth praised in his speech this decision as well as the corporate culture: "The Wagner company is, despite its size, still perceived as a family." Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer added: "We are very much aware that it is not a matter of course, to take such a large investment in Saarland."
The engineering work for the new facility have already begun, which will create 40 new jobs . The new plant in the Gewerbepark Nonnweiler will have a floor area of approximately 8000 square meters and 17 meters of height. The use of modern technologies should improve energy balance and environmental protection as well. Gottfried Hares, the CEO of pizza Wagner, expects production beginning in early 2013.
